Serving in Our Society



The Bahá'í Community of Pakistan, like other Bahá'ís throughout the world, is participating in the building of a new civilization. Groups of youth, journalists, writers and leaders of thought, belonging from different religions and backgrounds, in a spiritually joyous and at the same time, uplifting, atmosphere, get together to reflect on topics such as:

• Oneness of Humanity,
• The essence that the Source and the fundamentals of all religions is one,
• Unity in diversity, and
• Meaning of true and spiritual happiness.

Thus the Baha'i community is extending its efforts for actively initiating meaningful conversations, resulting in activities enhancing the spiritual capabilities of all ages in various societies throughout the country.

People from all walks of life engage in a systematic study of the Writings of God in order to enhance their spiritual capacities, resulting in a better understanding of the true purpose of life and the means of serving humanity. Groups of people in different neighbourhoods and villages are learning to work together. They apply their learning through a process of action and sharing of their experiences for improvements.

Great importance has been given to the period of childhood and youth, strengthening parents and individuals in the communities, to raise them in a nurturing and creative environment. It is believed that moral, spiritual and value-based training for children and youth is essential in order to foster their inherent capacities. This, in particular, helps the youth to take ownership of their spiritual and intellectual development, to develop a strong sense of purpose and the volition needed to make better decisions for themselves and for the society as a whole and to engage in meaningful social action in their communities.

Programs with the youth of the country has enabled these "mine rich in gems" to by going into villages, neighbourhoods, gathering children and empowering them with specially designed moral classes and preparing them for the blessed age they are yet to enter. They also invite other people of their own age or elders to take responsibility of the well being of their surroundings instead of feeling dependent on government departments. They take initiatives for cleanliness, hygiene, the natural environment, and education, to name just a few.
